We currently have an opening for a Speakers Bureau and Outreach Coordinator.

The Treaty Relations Commission of Manitoba (TRCM) Speakers’ Bureau and Outreach Coordinator assists in the overall coordination of the Speakers’ Bureau activities; develops and implements community research strategies; develops and maintains intergovernmental and public communications activities; and provides support services for research, reporting and special events as necessary.

Working Relationships:

The Speakers Bureau and Outreach Coordinator will report directly to the TRCM Operations Manager.  The Speakers Bureau and Outreach Coordinator will work closely with the TRCM team in achieving its goals and objectives.


The TRCM Speakers Bureau and Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating all Speakers’ Bureau and Community Outreach activities and events;
  • Developing, implementing, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating a TRCM Community Outreach Strategy;
  • Assisting with the TRCM education strategy, activities and publications;
  • Collaborating with TRCM team and partners in the planning and implementation of independent research projects;
  • Fostering effective working relationships with First Nations communities and organizations, all levels of government, and public and private sector organizations;
  • Developing consultative networks with various federal, provincial, and First Nations governments and maintaining open lines of communication for dissemination of information among TRCM partners;
  • Participating in committees, working groups and community events as requested;
  • Representing the TRCM at public relations events and community activities, including public speaking;
  • Responding to public inquiries and disseminating information to federal, provincial, First Nation and municipal government departments, and the general-public;
  • Developing, facilitating, and/or assisting in research for the purpose of producing research reports, briefing notes, discussion papers, project and budget proposals, and work plans;
  • Monitoring, evaluating and providing regular reports on project and program activities;
  • Analyzing, synthesizing and summarizing material and data for presentation to senior management; and
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Certificate or university degree in Social Sciences or related field with administration and social science research, and/or a combination of equivalent education and a minimum of three years related experience;
  • Experience working in/with an Aboriginal community or organization;
  • In depth knowledge of Manitoba Treaties;
  • In depth knowledge of First Nations aspirations, values, culture, issues and concerns;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, audio & digital recording technologies and multi-media software programs;
  • Experience in applied research, data base management and cataloging;
  • Demonstrated excellence relating to interpersonal, organizational, analytical, presentation, and time management skills including written and verbal communications;
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team setting, especially under deadlines;
  • A valid driver’s license, the use of a personal vehicle, the ability and willingness to travel and work outside regular office hours as required; and
  • Ability to speak, read and write in a First Nation language regional to Manitoba is desired.

SALARY RANGE:  Commensurate with experience and education.

TRCM Events

10 Yr Anniversary Open House – May 5, 2015

On behalf of Treaty Commissioner James Wilson, the TRCM cordially invites you to join in the celebrations of ‘A Decade of Bringing Manitoban’s Together’; an Open House event to honour the 10 Year Anniversary of the TRCM, the Treaties and the Treaty relationship on May 5, 2015. This event will take place at the TRCM office located at 400-175 Hargrave Street, Winnipeg from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm.

The TRCM would like to make special note that photographs will be taken during the event; please consider. As well, the TRCM will be collecting dry-good items for the Winnipeg Harvest if you would kindly make a donation.
